/WORK-WITH-ME · FRACTIONAL CTO · $2M TO $50M COMPANIES

Executive-level technology leadership, without the full-time hire.

I take the CTO seat for as long as you need it: set the roadmap, run the team, or transform the company. Then I hand it back to an organization that does not need me.

2–4 wkStrategic advisoryRoadmap, architecture, hiring
1–3 moHands-on leadershipRun the team, own delivery
3–6 moTransformationModernization, AI, restructuring

Three kinds of companies at a technology crossroads.

A 30-minute call tells us what stage your technology challenges are at and whether we are a fit. No deck, no pitch.

01 · GROWING SAAS

$2M to $20M revenue, Series A to B

Scaling fast and hitting technical bottlenecks.

The problemThe MVP got you to market. Now velocity is slowing, investors are asking hard roadmap questions, and every feature takes twice as long as it should.

What I doArchitecture review, technical debt assessment, and system design that supports growth without breaking the budget.

70%lower operating cost for a Series A company, handling 10x the users six months later
02 · TRADITIONAL, GOING DIGITAL

$10M to $100M revenue, established

Technology is now a competitive necessity.

The problemTech-first competitors are taking share. Legacy systems work but do not talk to each other, and nobody knows where transformation starts.

What I doTechnology audit, modern system integration, and a transformation roadmap with measurable return.

40%better retention and 25% lower operating cost from a customer portal for a 50-year-old manufacturer
03 · PRIVATE EQUITY PORTFOLIO

Recently acquired or preparing for sale

A technology leadership gap in between.

The problemThe CTO left during the deal. Systems need integrating across companies, and diligence surfaced technical debt that has to be dealt with before exit.

What I doTechnology due diligence, system consolidation, and value creation through technology.

30%lower technology cost and 50% faster feature delivery after consolidating three acquired companies

PROOF, WITH NUMBERS

$2BB stands for billions

A funded company acquiring major players in its industry, and the culture, product, and operations log-jammed. Rebuilt the technology organization so the pieces worked together, faster than anyone expected.

1 → 30Explosive growth, without exploding

One engineer to thirty, five new products shipped, all inside twelve months. The lean agile setup behind it, the Agile Donut, carried the team past 100 engineers worldwide and drew companies from around the world to study it.

GlobalAgile where everyone said it could not be done

A multi-billion-dollar hardware company going all-in on software, with waterfall in its bones. The rollout worked well enough to become a roadshow that taught the rest of the organization.

8 mo → 1 wkA product re-ignited

A company that stopped selling for a year because onboarding was too buggy to add one more customer. Engineering process, architecture guidelines, and hiring cut onboarding from eight months to one week and saved hundreds of thousands in operating cost.

“Under Josh's leadership, we successfully transitioned to a holistic product management approach, where Product Managers and Group Product Managers were fully responsible for the financial, technical, and customer-related outcomes of their respective product lines. This shift was critical in unlocking our potential for growth through scale as we rapidly brought seven new products to market.”
Patrick Mizer
CTO, Blue Star Innovation Partners
“Josh is great at sharing his knowledge with everyone. I love listening to the podcasts he does with Bob Galen because I find them very realistic, educational, and honest. It really helps me think of action plans for my own setup in our scrum team. I hope he never stops his podcasts!”
George Grigorian
Sr. Technical Project Manager, NBCUniversal

Questions people ask first.

What does a fractional CTO actually do?
The job of a CTO, part-time and for a defined period: set the technology roadmap, run or restructure the engineering team, make architecture and hiring calls, and report to the CEO and board. You get executive-level technology leadership without a full-time salary or equity.
How long is an engagement?
Three shapes. Strategic advisory runs 2 to 4 weeks. Hands-on leadership runs 1 to 3 months. Transformation projects run 3 to 6 months. Every one starts with a free 30-minute strategy call, then a one-week assessment and a one-week roadmap.
What size company is this for?
Companies between $2M and $50M in revenue: SaaS scaling past the MVP (Series A to B), traditional businesses going digital ($10M to $100M), and private equity portfolio companies between CTOs.
